Nearly but not done...

April 2nd..

April sees the house nearly at completion. We had a slight issue with the theater wall where they were going to 'float' the wall due to a lump. We emailed and expressed our concerns regarding this and it was very quickly pulled down and fixed.

The painting went well and only a few things need to touched up. We love the colours we went with and are super happy with how well everything matches.

The kitchen went in next with tiles starting not long after. The kitchen is great and I am happy with the space in the kitchen. The only thing I would change having now seen it is the depth of the shelves in the pantry. They are only 30 cm deep and I would have preferred a bit more. Maybe adding another pot drawer would have been good.

The tiles at this point are still not complete, grouting and some tiles in laundry still need to be completed. This has taken a ridiculous amount of time for something relatively simple.

The flooring in the rest of the house looks great and I love the floor boards and carpet, I was a little worried the carpet would be too dark but it looks fab.
Does not show true colour

Good floor polishers

The render was coloured next and tap and shower fitting were completed along with toilets and bath. And now we wait......and wait....... The house has basically had nothing done for two weeks. So frustrating, especially as the people next door are about to move in. We have both been building with Homebuyers and had the same SS and we started two weeks before them.... They have just seemed to prioritised them over us. Anyway rant over and email has been sent so will keep you updated ;)
Cant wait to add light fittings

Jan and Feb

A few people have asked about the building inspector we used for the pre pour stage, so I have included his details below. He was great and hope to use him for our final stage as well.

Jason Illingworth Building Consultant Cert IV Building Construction Timber Pest & Termite Inspector Jims Building Inspections ( Bellarine ) Mobile - 0407499123

January our frame went up, which was super exciting as we did not get to see a display home of the house we are building. Was great to be able to see the space and compare what we imagined the house and space to be and what it actually is. The walk in linen cupboard is huge, we call it the office and the bathroom is smaller then we thought but will be fine. I think the house will work well :)

FEBRUARY

Just gets more and more exciting as well as a little bit frustrating as we just want to move in!!  I was so excited yesterday when I popped in and saw that our kitchen was in. I had been so worried about the colours but I think it looks great. The brick work is almost complete, just a few bricks to go up the top along the street side. Eth is secretly in love with the bricks, I think, as he keeps going on about how good they look! Painting is due to start next week which brings me to my one concern that I have. During the last inspection we pointed a small 'lump' in the plaster at the top of one of the walls in the theatre. After speaking with the SS he informed us that at pre paint this would be solved by putting in a 'float'. We don't feel great about this and are worried it's not really going to fix it. I have posted pics below along with the others. Let me know what you think!

We have started

Building

We have finally started building...Yipppeee came the cries from our house! It has been flat out since my last post, with so much going on to do with the house and just general end of the year stuff. So I will put together a short timeline to show where we up to.

October:

October saw us having titled after a very long wait due to issues with construction due to what we can only assume was some miscommunication between Warralily and Barwon water, that resulted in the pipes being put through the middle of some blocks. So up went the pipes to be redone. We then had to struggle to find out who was responsible for putting in the front taps.... Nobody wanted to organise that! After several phone calls Homebuyers decided they should take responsibility and we have taps!

Exciting November:

November after much hassling and signing draft plans, soil tests and approval from the developers and council saw the beginning of us building our house, finally! I can't tell you how exciting it was to drive past and see that we had a skip out the front and a fence up!!

18/11/2015- Site was cut

21/112015- The pouring of the concrete pillars begins.
28/11/2015- Pipes are put in

December:

Ok so maybe December is more exciting then November! This month has been so exciting and it really looks like we are building a house!! We have gone from a block of dirt to the frame and roof having been completed. We decided to get an independent inspector out to do the pre pour inspection, he was fantastic and I would be more then happy to pass on contact details for him, so please ask. We had no issues so it has been very easy, contact has been good between Homebuyers, us and our site supervisor.

1/12/2015- Ready to pour. Site pre pour inspection completed and ready to go.

4/12/2015 WE HAVE A SLAB! and no we didn't have a slab on a slab party...just ran out of time :P

11/12/2015 - 15/12/2015  Frame gets delivered and put up :D

By the 23rd December

By this time we have a tiled roof and our windows are in. Was amazing to drive down the street and see our house looking like a 'real' house. Yes we have gone and played with the windows and doors :P
One window is broken and I am sure that we have a pipe coming up in the wrong spot but I am sure these issues will be sorted, we are not really worried. The builders all go on break now till the 11th of Jan so don't expect anything to happen before then. Can't wait for it all to start up again. :D

Title!!!!!

We finally have title through......This took forever, not sure if this is Geelong council or just how it is, anyway it is very frustrating. Settlement is due on the 29th of September, here is hoping it happens a bit quicker from now on but not holding my breath.

We have had a bit of a problem with the back left peg, well lack of peg that nobody really wants to take responsibility for.
The land sales office says talk to conveyor, they said talk to builder, builder says we can pay for it or talk to land developer..... Will keep you updated on that. Thought we might go out and have a dig around first.

We are done :D

August 8th....

And our land is finished, I can't tell you how happy and excited we are to finally after months of waiting and pipes getting put in the wrong places to get here. The land has officially gone to the titles office to become ours. The road is completed and grass seed has been put down. Fingers crossed the title comes through quickly.

Look, our car in the drive way!

Checking out the hole.....

The start of August...

The start of August sees the block nearly done.....Thank goodness.

The roads are just waiting for their final layer of tar and a few holes need to be filled in still.
Mish is convinced we need to call the builders RIGHT NOW to start building.

Yep, I think my bedroom should be here!

July 1st

JULY.....

Finance is finally sorted and it looks like just in time. The finance expired and due to changes in how the bank decides if survice the loan we had to choose a different bank. The block in the past few weeks has really come along, the roads are nearly done and they are starting to flatten blocks, it won't be long now...we hope.

Anyway we have street sign :D

Roads still to come, footpath done and block to flattened.
